At least four people have died and dozens are feared missing after flash floods struck Uttarkashi district on Tuesday afternoon following a cloudburst over the Kheer Ganga river. Officials confirmed that 130 people have been rescued so far, even as heavy rains continue to lash the region.

⚠️ The deluge swept through Dharali town, situated at an altitude of 8,600 feet, submerging hotels, homes, and roads. Shocking visuals shared by residents showed powerful waves of muddy water tearing through buildings and carrying away everything in their path.

👨‍✈️ Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the disaster-hit zone on Wednesday to oversee rescue operations. Teams from the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working round the clock with local volunteers to trace the missing and provide relief.

🌧️ The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several hill districts of Uttarakhand, warning of further flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid riverbanks. Relief camps are being set up for those displaced, while medical teams have been deployed to provide urgent care to the injured.

Rescue efforts are expected to continue through the night, with officials fearing that the death toll may rise as more bodies are recovered.
